While I wasn&#39;t totally blown away by the film, I don&#39;t feel the extreme dislike shared by many Robotech folks. I do see where it pretty much stepped all over the various Sentinel stories. It was almost like HG decided that too much time had passed to salvage the Sentinels and, instead, glossed over it. And while robotech may not be that popular, it does mean a lot to its fans, and that&#39;s all that matters. <br /><br />And while HG may not &quot;owe&quot; fans anything, they could of at least given fans something good rather than something that completely made a mockery out of what we came to love. They could have just left off with the original 85 and moved on to other properties. Let&#39;s face it, Robotech doesn&#39;t have the wide appeal of Transformers, G.I.JOe, or even bigger franchises like Star Wars. You&#39;re so wrong, it defies modern technology to try and measure how wrong you are.<br /><br />The purpose of being a fan is to express enjoyment of whatever it is you&#39;re a fan of,in this case it&#39;s Robotech.<br /><br />Now, for a descent fan, intelligence is key. We&#39;re not talking about some blind, drooling-at-the-mouth Fanboy who walks around gibbering like an idiot. No, we&#39;re talking about someone who&#39;d got a legitimate brain, and has issues with some of the things RT has been through.<br /><br />It&#39;d be the same if you were, say, a fan of Dodge musclecars. The classics had thier problems, and so do some of the new ones. If a person wasn&#39;t able to vent about their opinion of the new challenger, then they&#39;d be considered something less than a true musclecar feind.<br /><br />Legitimate dissent isn&#39;t some kind of plague. Thinking critically and making an effort to improve something which one has no authority to improve goes beyond fandom and into creative realms. Separating the two would allow people to at once enjoy their fandom more and put their energies to use somewhere that would have a positive effect. I listened to a recent podcast of &quot;Space Station Liberty&quot; and was apalled at the disrespect shown Kevin McKeever! The man took the time to be interviewed on that podcast and, in my opinion, treated very poorly.<br /><br />Yeah, I would love more Robotech product and story. But as fans, we must remember that we are not technically owed anything. In fact, we are fortunate that we get anything at all. Think about fans of other 1980&#39;s cartoon properties. They are lucky to get a dvd release and that is about it. Just my opinion. <br /><br />Thanks for the show. I am really enjoying it.
