RANDOM THOUGHTS 08/13/10....HG VISITS JT.... THE "MACROSS PURIST EXCUSE"....TOURNEY TALK AND EPISODE #25

Just so you know.....I rant on this one...

Hello all!

Trying to get back into the swing of things.....So let's begin another round of musings from the old chair....

We start off with my least favorite subjects in Robotech.....and it's not the Shadow Chronicles....nor The Untold Story.....

Harmony Gold.....

Seems they have made another visit to the blog of yours truly.....

And it looks like  they are searching for  RT25: The Celebration info.......are we trying to learn on how to REALLY put on a Robotech 25th Anniversary Party now? I think others........(cough) THE FANS have been doing quite a good job WITHOUT your help.

I wonder who could it have been.......Tommy "Don't take a picture of Sera" Yune?.........Kevin "The Can't Man" Mckeever.......Steve "Give me a paycheck Bro!" Yune?

Which leads me to believe.......what are they up to? My faith in these people in handling Robotech has been well chronicled.....but to even think that they would mess with the good people who are organizing this event who have put a lot of LOVE behind it?

You boys at HG can't be that lustful for control..........or that stupid?

And when it comes to visiting me?.....I'd say I'm honored......but look who I'm talking about here! 

To think....wasting their time on my blog  and Robotech.com hasn't been updated since........................well NEVER.

Tommy, Kevin, Steve... exactly what ARE your priorities with the Robotech franchise now? Because this is the way one fan sees it.....(and I'm sure a few others)

Celebrating the Legacy of the Original 85 in it's 25th Anniversary------------MEGA FAIL!

Shadow Rising ----- That's grounded......so another FAIL!

Live Action Movie - Ok Harmony Gold gets a pass on that one since they have NO SAY (in my opinion) of what's going to happen. 

Four outta five?............and YOU GUYS GET PAID FOR THIS????????????????

Why don't you "handlers" of Robotech at Harmony Gold, because that's all you really are to me,  just let the fans celebrate 25 years of Robotech they way they want to and you keep yourselves busy with your "Sera picture" hmmm?

Though I will say I am sincerely hurt you never say hello when you visit....LMAO!

And yes peoples....I am CYNICAL when it comes to those at Harmony Gold that are in charge of Robotech. 


But I still loves that Robotech! That's the difference....LOL!

Now about the RandomCast.....I stand by what I said.....

The term "Macross Purist" is an excuse used by some IN the Robotech fandom  to justify why one is a fan of it....

I'm a Robotech fan, I enjoy it........and do I need to explain it? Does it change my way of looking at it when somebody bashes it? Do I need to take up a holy frikin' crusade and "denounce" those to prove my loyalty like Robotech is some exclusive club or something?

Um....no.

Oh but anything to try and get a jolt out of the Macross fans.....It's hilarious! 


And to think.....without Macross, you wouldn't have Robotech.....OOOPS!......Taboo subject! LMAO!

But of course.......those same people blame the "Macross Purists" for things like global warming, war, poverty, the Mayan calendar......right down to Eve eating the forbidden apple. 

Now, granted...there are people who have been none too kind with the franchise or the fans..... and sometimes get pretty offensive with some of the things they say......

BUT........................

We've got some pretty unstable people right within the Robotech fandom and they have used Robotech in some of the most outrageous and vile ways that have absolutely nothing to do with the show.

I don't have to justify nor answer to ANYONE, Robotech fan or non Robotech fan for The Protoculture Times nor for being a Robotech fan. If there is someone that does think I need to "answer" for my being a fan.....lol!....you can give it your best shot to try and "make me".  

Macross Purists this......Macross Purists that...........well boo f***ing hoo.  At the end of the day t every time I hear the term......one word will always come to mind.

Excuse.

I guess that makes them feel special or something....hee hee!

(shakes head).....I guess my final take is....why be a Robotech fan if you think you gotta explain yourself.....instead of just enjoying it?  

And if my take on the term rubs those people the wrong way......so be it....it's how I feel....certainly those people have made known how they feel about yours truly...and it's cool....I don't mind.....because they don't matter.

If it makes them feel better...then let call me a Macross Purist.

But wait.....that's been done already on numerous occasions.... has it made me quit?.......has it made me stop from having fun?

Umm......no. And it never will....they can keep on making excuses....I'll keep on celebrating Robotech.

Just something I needed to vent on guys and girls......and I have.

And remember....all the preceding ......was just ONE FAN'S OPINION. LOL!

But on to better things......

Thank you to all for the success of the Character Clash Tournament. Definitely a worldwide celebration of Robotech. And we did have a clear cut winner! Want to find out who won?.......well listen to the episode! (on the right of this page)

Now here's a historic occasion for the podcast;

The first (and probably the only) Protoculture Times listening party occurred this past weekend. Thanks to Vivian, Joe, Cheryl, Jason. "The Admiral" and Darkwater for drinking merry while listening to the final results of the Tourney. And a big shoutout to Max Lanza-Orellana who has followed the rounds from the very start. Hope the results did not disappoint big man! 


Now that's the type of stuff that just shows the good will ALWAYS outweigh the bad....

So...Tournament is over.....So where do we do from here?.......Well......I'm thinking about it.  

But first on my list.......the 25th Anniversary Episode!!...I'm gonna work this weekend to get things ready because I really want this to be special. I mean in terms of "Regular Episodes", the show will be the same age as Robotech ....WOOHOO! This will be a big show and I apologize again for the delay.....but I'm READY TO DO THIS!

And let me close this post by saying THANK YOU to the boys at Harmony Gold for paying me a visit because you  have just given me the shot in the arm the  kick to the ass.....reminding me of my purpose in Robotech......

THE ROBOTECH 25TH ANNIVERSARY CHARACTER CLASH TOURNAMENT.....

....has officially ended.


From Robotech, 64 of it's characters battled it out for almost 2 months until there were only 2 left.


The votes have been tallied...the percentages calculated.....and


Ladies and gentlemen....boys and girls.....children of all ages......we have a CHAMPION!

Just like with the SDF-25 Mecha Tournament....a little sad to see this Tournament end. It saw a lot of classic matchups and some good times!

WELCOME BACK...

Hello everyone,

It's been awhile...

Back in Episode #1 I let everyone know that sometimes "life happens" and that if it did it would affect the scheduling of the show. Well, this has been one of those moments. I want to apologize to you all for my extended absence. I won't lie to you that I was extremely nervous doing this new cast and even questioned if I should come back at all. To say at I'm at 100%...I really can't say that.  But to go out quietly into the night, I would be letting myself down on the dream that I have been living for the last 10 months AND I would be letting all of you down, the listeners who have accompanied me on this journey that I will never ever forget. Life isn't perfect  (and i am far from it) but it's about  facing the challenges of the same with an inner strength and I owe it to all of you and myself that as part of that strength ....is to keep the celebration of Robotech's 25th Anniversary going  because just like life, you get one shot at it and you shouldn't waste the opportunity. 

And besides....who ELSE is going to celebrate it?

Never give up on your dreams......and this journey surely has been a dream fulfilled!

In the time we have left, let's indeed make it one for the history books.....

And since I have been absent and there have been some goings on in the Robotech world that I'm sure to have opinions about.....I'm exercising my 20% option......

"Destroying Robotech"?  Who can do it?

I'm asking myself WHY do I even bother talking about some of these subjects?????????

Oh yeah...it's a RANDOMCAST! Sorry....been so long......I forgot...LOL!

Some people like to worry with what's said about Robotech......me?......I prefer to celebrate it!  (And for some reason.....it pisses some people off!.......LMAO!)
