A FEW WORDS ABOUT THE UEG PRODUCTIONS/HG SITUATION

A few thoughts;

A group of fans putting so much effort, initiative and drive in this project.
NOT for financial gain, but because they love Robotech.

It now appears that loving it is an offense to those who control it...

I can say a lot about Harmony Gold, but their actions speak so much more than any commentary ever could.

I wish UEG Productions all the good fortune in the world with their future endeavors, which I will be following. Remember guys;

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens...."

Walk away with your heads up high on a job well done, you've earned it.

For me, the fan-based Robotech productions (fiction, art, UEG, constructions) will ALWAYS be the greatest asset that the franchise will ever have, only second to the Original 85.

These people, these fans, do it with HEART.

And THAT is what differentiates them....

Ah screw it! I actually DO have a few words about Harmony Gold. Since they DO visit this website along with their cronies Fric and Frac;

The beauty of it....no forum to be banned from!

And remember folks, this is one fan's opinion, nothing more...but nothing less...

To issue a cease and desist order on a true labor of love shows the true heart you guys show to the Robotech.

Tommy Yune, let's be honest, you just can't handle anything that isn't your baby, The Shadow Chronicles. Kinda like the Original 85 you ditched. A lot fans will tell you to take YOUR "original" creation with all its DVD sales and cram it up your "can't draw Speed Racer to save his life" ass. You're probably one of the retards that actually paid $80 for Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles on Ebay.

Now what is it that you actually DO at Harmony Gold by the way? If you base your tenure there with Shadow Chronicles, we're looking at EPIC PHAIL here...

Kevin Mckeever, word has it you were the one to start all this against UEG. Did they turn down your resume for a job as a promotor? Let me say, you couldn't promote a Tidy Bowl commercial if you were sitting on the f*cking can.

And I know, I know Kevin, you CAN'T talk about jobs you've been fired from....

Since this cease and desist kind of shuts down the Genesis website, let's talk about Robotech.com.

A site "administered" by one Steve Yun, The effort he puts there shows what he thinks about the general Robotech fandom. He takes a couple of of easy "marks" by the name of Memo and Mav and puts them up for public ridicule and humiliation. I may not "warm up" up to Fric and Frac, but even I'm against cruelty to dumb animals!

Somebody get me the number to PETA!

And Steve, talk about leeching off your brother! Get yourself a real job you bum.....

And Memo, why do I have this feeling you also had a hand in this? I wonder if Harmony Gold will shut down your Vermillion Productions now? Or did they give you a "pass"?

Knowing your "history".....on this one I HOPE I'M WRONG.

Maverick, since you're preoccupied on other people's  "wi wis",  I'll leave you to your own devices...

Enjoy the "control" boys....good thing you don't control when fans start saying..."Not today Harmony Gold, we've caught on to your bullshit..."

Sad way to celebrate 25 years of Robotech....really really sad...making your fans, the enemy.

- JT

    All my best to UEG! HG's cease and desist simply speaks for the quality of your work. (They feel threatened by you!)

    JT - Your commentary is not just ONE fan's opinion. I think there are many who would agree with you. As for Steve putting Memo and Mav up for public ridicule, I would have to adamantly disagree! THEY DO IT THEMSELVES! HE HE HE

    From the good days of Robocon 10 to the pinnacle of RT fandom at Robocon20.... to now this... Sad day indeed!

  4. Sounds like business as usual to me. HG legal's been pulling dick moves like this for years -- they've done it before, they'll do it again, and again, and again. These are the same people who sent threatening letters to every mom & pop anime store in the country telling them not to sell import Macross merchandise about seven or eight years ago, y'know?

    Of course, I've been so out of the loop I didn't even know UEG was still working on Genesis. Thought it'd floated off into the ether, as just one more piece of fan-crafted vaporware. Last I saw it was just cool designs, a slick trailer, big talk -- a demo reel, a showpiece, but no story and no soul. Mind you, a soulless demo piece with some flashy visuals could still have ended as a more professional piece of entertainment than Shadow Chronicles, but it would equally fail at recapturing the essence of what Robotech is ...

    Anyway, all under the rug now. Probably better that they're channeling their energies into something they own, something they can make their own mark with. Funny, though, that HG's legal team is so litigious when Transformers owners Hasbro don't go around stomping out fan-professionals making high quality replicas of their own blasted products. Is it just that they're so much smaller and thus more scared of lost revenue, or being unable to enforce their rights over the material? Hmm.

  5. Come on Maverick? Where are ya? We know your watching and reading.. so give us your 2 Canadian cents!

    You and Memo need to accept a few simple facts. We know about you. We know your deep dark secrets that people that know you have shared and apparently the only value you can find in your lives is the "power" you wield at Robotech.com.

    I only learned about UEG and this project recently but i know two things already.

    1. Robotech Genesis's production value FAR FAR exceeds the dated crap that is Shadow Chronicles. now THAT is what Shadow Chronicles should have been striving for with their mecha... not passing off that POS.

    2. If Harmony Gold allows Memo to continue with his "fan film", then they are hypocrites.. and actually you know what, they are already proving themselves to be hypocrites. On the Official Robotech fan page with the whopping 3,243 fans (as opposed to the fan page with over 90,000 fans) they have a picture of a Southern Cross fan film!!!

    So basically... you'll support and allow projects that you don't think are better than what you can make on your own? See now you shouldn't be acting all high and mighty, but rather you should be saying, that's great work, and now we see where the bar is, and we are gonna beat that!

    Kevin, you wanna see how to support a fan community? Look at Voltron.com and the fan projects, the fan art, the incredible work they are doing over there! Now THAT is how you support the fans and allow their creativity. And ya know, an even bigger and better example? From a franchise that crushes you?

    http://www.theforce.net/fanfilms/

    Star Wars... i mean, DAMN another case of fan films that CRUSH the crap that you guys put out. When fans can homebrew better CGI than you guys with a budget? well, that just says something, now don't it?

    But ya know, I ain't all loud and one sided and Dogmatic like the fans of HG.. ya I'm looking at you Maverick... I get that fan projects can go either way. Legend of Neil thrives, the Megaman film is on the way and blessed by Capcom, The Hero of Time was sacked by Nintendo. The rights holders of the IP have rights to protect their ability the commercialize a product. The important thing though is to know how to interact with the fan community, because it is these types of fan projects that inspire fans to become more and more involved with an IP, especially when there is NOTHING coming out from the rights holder. (RPG does not count because really, how many people actually buy and play it? And dont get me started on the Blu-Ray of TSC) The void must be filled, and its the Trekkies, the Jedis, the Browncoats that keep a property alive.. not cheap sweatshirts and re-prints of old comics. If the only fans that you can embrace and accept, as is demonstrated on the forums, are the fans that support the company line, then that speaks alot about the state of the company.
