RANDOM THOUGHTS 01/11/10

Greetings to all from my office chair with another round of Random Thoughts!

It was great to get back behind the mic. It's such a RUSH when I hit that record button. The way things are going, I can tell you I'm not planning of "putting down" my mic any time soon! And besides, my mic is on a stand so it's always up LMAO!

Just read that Spiderman 4 has been shelved. Read about it by clicking here!

No doubt the rumors will start flying of "Oh now that Tobey is free, he can dedicate ALL his time to Robotech!" Tobey is but one person in this entire production. There is Warner Brothers who will ultimately decide on what direction to take all of this. The ball is in their corner if they want to move forward. I'm still standing by my thoughts on this....1 chance in 5.

It's that every time I think of what a Robotech Live Action Movie could be, for some reason, Dragonball Z: Evolution comes to mind and that ain't good!

I think I'll pass on the RLAM Kool-aid....

What is Robotech? It's..................gonna be different for everybody.....REALLY different for some.

Kevin McKeever........ahhh screw it I "CAN'T"  talk about it!

I'm really diggin' FACEBOOK! The FLAIR app so far is my favorite....all those Robotech buttons! Thanks to everyone who signed up to the show's profile!

With the "retirement" of The Robotech Word of the Show from the "main" show, I have effectively "banned" Memo and Mav....the irony! They are relegated to Random Thoughts and RandomCasts and no doubt they will continue to provide  us with the entertaining musing that they have become known for.

Robotech and the NOSTRADAMUS connection?....It's always been something that I was on my mind because of the year 1999 and one of his quatrains. I'll keep you posted on this one folks....

Revisiting the Jack Mckinney novels has been great. Honestly, I read them quite often. The way they tell the Robotech story has always been enjoyable for me. I go back and watch the Original 85 and am able to point out, "Oh here's where this or that happens in the novels." To me a great compliment to the base product and I'm going to have fun talking about them on the show. And remember, if you don't like them, you don't like them.....but I do.

Speaking of base product, Harmony Gold celebrates it all the time...too bad they consider The Shadow Chronicles the base product...[shakes head]

Still thinking about that Skype voicemail. It would be a great way for Robotech fans all around the globe can chime in! I like the idea but we'll see.....

ROBOTECH FANDOM IS WORLDWIDE, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!

Don't forget the poll questions.....I'm really surprised the novels are doing so well. Exercise your right to vote as a Robotech fan!

A LIVE SHOW?...Well, I've been kind of thinking about it....if I do it, I'm all about preparation and I want it to come out in a structured way. Maybe a live video feed, though I'm one of those people that belong BEHIND the camera for obvious reasons....(Yes, I am kinda down on myself...at times). Defintely get YOU the listener involved in all of it.

Robotech Memories - It's a new segment I'm developing. Just something for everyone to share on how they got into Robotech, what they've liked and yes...what they haven't liked. I really want to make the listeners more a part of this as I consider all of you a big part of the success of The Protoculture Times. Stay tuned for it!

Hold on...lemme check for one of Maverick_LSC's love notes on the blog...GOOD! NONE!..... pretty creepy with him ....tells fellows fans that they have OCD...then says he does not take in the worst aspects of the fandom....has a "rooster fixation"......a  "regular guy" he calls himself.....ummmmm.......ok!

Oh I forgot....HI THERE MAV!

Gonna go add some more Facebook Flair.....talk to you all later!

REVIVE FOR 25!

  1. Hey JT,

just finished listening to Episode 12. You've really outdone yourself with this one, JT! This was a real treat to listen! I really enjoyed your interview with Michael Bradley. It was fascinating and insightful to listen to what Mr Bradley's musical influences were, his career - past & present and the bits of trivia he shared relating to his career, and what he has planned for future endeavors. And the humor that went with it - namely the psyching out! One word to describe the interview: AWESOME! :D

Thank-you and Vivian for taking the time and effort in making this interview happen and sharing it with us all on your podcast. We all look forward to the next one you have planned for us.

Btw, thanks for the shout-out on your recent episode, you asked fans from all over the world what was happening in their country concerning Robotech fandom. I've left a comment in the previous blog entry if you were wondering what was happening in my country.

    IT'S THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY, BABY!

  2. Thannks for the kind words! The interview with Michael was an unforgettable experience. I was so nervous but he put me at ease and it was a fun time had by all! Vivian has been such a sweetheart to the show and I actually have plans to interview her and her husband as their Robotech story is something special!

To me it's not about the size of the fandom, but the heart put into it. And I gotta tell you, some of the most frequent visitors to the site are from Australia, aside form yourself =-)

I want to do a LIVE show in the future in where we can get as many fans worldwide together for a few hours and celebrate Robotech! I'm working on the logistics and i'll keep everyone informed if it's a go.

Email me at protoculturetimes@gmail.com and I'll fill you in on more details!

    Take care!
