RANDOM THOUGHTS 01/18/10

Not too happy right now...maybe some Random Thoughts will change that.

I have to say that I really didn't like my last episode once I went back to it.The Robotech Files segment for the novels was way too long! I feel like I was going over the story again when we did that for weeks on past episodes. For episode 15, I'll try to keep it to just reading excerpts and reducing time...just kinda miffed at myself as I should've done better!

Pace yourself JT...the year has just started. And no worries, I'm still having fun!

Podcasting...serious business!

Watched the Golden Globes and saw Avatar win its awards. I haven't seen it yet. Just hasn't called my attention. If you have seen it, let me know what you thought of it!

And NO just because the movie has mecha, doesn't mean that OMG! the Robotech LAM is a "done deal" and is Oscar bound....the things some people can write or say....you'd think that we're on the 4th or 5th Robotech movie already!

As a character, Khyron has kinda grown on me...a lot of "what if" scenarios with him...maybe I'll think of a story some time.....

I have seen some great Robotech fan art out there, I hope to profile it soon on the show...

My calling in Robotech is not about technical schematics...Frankly, I really don't care what the exact length of the SDF-1 is. For that it's a BIG DAMN SHIP is enough for me!

Let's check Robotech.com....hmmm....let me check my calendar...for a minute there I thought it was 2003 because the site looks like it did back then!

Whoever gets paid for "working" on that site, talk about EASY MONEY!

MEMO1DOMINION thinks that Harmony Gold "makes" it's own anime...case in point Shadow Chronicles....actually Mems...since that originated from Robotech...which originated came from Macross, Southern Cross and Mospeada...Harmony Gold still hasn't "made" anything....

Robotech comes from 3 separate unrelated Japanese animated series...nothing wrong in admitting that...and I'm glad they were adapted into ROBOTECH, that simple, simple as that!

By the way Tommy...have you ever seen Robotech?..It has 85 episodes....you know... we're celebrating its 25th anniversary....no?....nothing?....doesn't spark your memory?

Hmmm...guess you must be working on Shadow Rising, hee hee!

  1. The shadow chronicles love fest is a scary one for sure. It shows through the obsessive fans, and HG themselves with the 25th anniversary logo..

    It's like hello? TSC wasn't around for 25 years :| the original 85 were, so why the hell was there a shadow fighter in the logo? *facepalm*
    It just seems to me they're celebrating TSC, cause you know it was so Farting epic and revived the franchise! No in my humble opinion, it killed it even worse. It was cheap, poorly written and just half assed all the way.

    Now the next crappy movie is on hold until after the live action flick.. if it ever happens.. was announced in 2007 and here it is 2010, what do we got? Nothing, nadda, zip!
    yet some fans still have hope that the movie will get made.. and as for fric and frag

    With ASTRO Plan adapted as RT, we can no longer be held down by Macross.

    Yeah, I am a Macross fan, but having Robotech adaptation without having to be shadowed by Macross is, in my opinion, for the better.

    Having Astro Plan as RT:Shadow Rising, HG can cut costs as RTSR will be fully an animated new series than just half-hour mediocre straight to DVD animated feature.

    With this, RT fandom get a brand new series, a whole toyline merchandise, possible new games, a whole of new comics adaptation, brand new RPG & perhaps new novelization.

    Hell yeah! Since HG have links in China, HG can actually make this thing a reality!

    I have to admit, after watching the two eps, I nearly puke. The story is pure crap .... but the 3D mecha designs & action sequence are that of RTSC quality - which is not a necessarily a bad thing.

    Mecha / ships designs are quite impressive, I must say. Sure, there's Macross 0 / Macross F's valkyrie design elements (VF-0 & VF-25), but overall, I'm quite surprise they managed to do this.

    I kinda think, HG can still salvage the mess that Astro Plan is. Just take all the mecha / ships battle sequences & 3D scenes, & reanimate the rest. Just leave the reanimated new footages to DR Movie.

    But first, HG need to negotiate with the Chinese counterpart regarding the Astro Plan's animation rights, & toy distribution rights. Sufficed to say, YF-10 & YF-11 toys already flooding China's market.

    With luck, HG can save costs & have a toyline to boot!

    First, it's great to hear from the international fans in Australia! ROBOTECH FANDOM IS WORLDWIDE!

    Second, leave me names, at least an initial because I love giving shout outs and ackowledgements to all those that take the time to stop by. Saying "Shoutout to Anonymous!" just loses its personal touch. =-P

    Third, all your points are great and I will address them on a RandomCast next week along with the results of the poll questions which still have about a week to go! Don't forget to vote and make yourselves heard! And tell me what RObotech fandom is like in your neck of the woods. I've already heard from Cheetosdust, chime in also!

    that post on RTX about wanting HG to buy astro plan is a joke! trust me, that same guy is on macross world and was joking about it too. It's a satirical thread =]

  7. HP, I dunno... he sounded pretty convincing to me that he wasn't joking around. I agree that the people who responded to the thread were joking and their comments were satirical in nature but the guy who started the thread seemed deadset on his idea that it could work for Harmony Gold. I mean, why did he go to all the trouble of posting up multiple pictures of the characters, ships and mecha and go on and on about it? I guess that's the beauty of reading threads, there is no tone to them and its open to interpretation on many levels.

    Sorry, to disappoint you, JT, but all the previous comments from Australia were from me! :P Are you sure the Australian Robotech fan contingent is alive and kicking? :p

It would be really great if the people who worked on or now working on Robotech, Carl Macek, Tommy Yune, etc., could also admit that it came from three unrelated Japanese anime series and treat them with respect as well. But no, most of the time they come out sounding condescending to the original three and treating Robotech as the superior version. They forget that without the work done on Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada, they would not have the careers or popularity they have today. They're part of the problem.
