Hope everyone has enjoyed the holiday and the weekend. Personally, as always, it was just too short, lol!
In preps for episode 10 which is a little milestone for me. There were times I thought it would be one and out and here I am going into double digits.
A few thoughts
State of the franchise - In terms of Harmony Gold, the inactivity speaks for itself.
The Shadow Chronicles - You can only milk it and repackage it so many times. Not that it was worth that. (My opinion of course.)
The Original 85 - The forgotten child of the franchise......
Keeping the excitement episode to episode - Honestly, a few times it has been a concern for me. However, once the record button is pressed, it's GO TIME!
People's reaction to the podcast - Unexpected!
My Supporters - I am a very blessed and grateful man. What more can I say?
The Haters - Amazing the imagination of some people. And how they use the internet as a replacement for courage. I don't mind, because they don't matter.
State of the fandom - Fragmented.....totally.
Hatred and bigotry in the same - It's sad and ignorant. Obsession over an 80s cartoon! Once again using the internet for courage. One word, pathetic.
The biggest enigma in this journey - Why is it so taboo to ask where would Robotech be without Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada? A lot of people stay away from that.
Regrets - Hmmmmm?.....Perhaps a few.....
REVIVE FOR 25 - An invitation to enjoy Robotech for what it is. It's an individual choice for each fan.

The future of Robotech - I really don't know so I will say....1 chance in 5.....
The future of The Protoculture Times - With so many subjects that floated in my mind, no rgrets in choosing Robotech. For anything in this world to survive, it must evolve and when and if the time comes, I would like the show to expand beyond Robotech. Don't get me wrong, it will always have a presence but I've got a lot of other interests that I can have fun with here.

Random Thoughts AFTER the RandomCast
Hi all...a few after show thoughts I have....and since Harmony Gold is "watching" things here....=-)
Kevin McKeever, responding to a fan who pointed out that the mods ban people who insult them or don't share their opinions responded;
"As well they should. The TOU is very clear on having members not throw insults at other members/moderators. If we have members who cant abide by those rules then the mods can and should ban that member."
Fair enough, insults are insults but how come you dodge the part about people getting banned because they don't agree with the opinions of the moderators? The quote from the fan you used was;
"and the biggest baby of them all are the MODS that bans the ones that insult them or the ones that don't share their opinions"
You only answered part of it...selective responses Kevin....guess you "can't" talk about it...
Now since you chose to pull out the good ol' TOU...how about this?
"MAV AND I PRETTY MUCH KNOW HOW HOLLYWOOD WORKS. I LIVE HERE AND SEE IT ALL THE TIME. MAV IS DIRECTLY INVOLVED IN THE SAME AREA OF PRODUCTIONS IN CANADA. SINCE HG CAN'T SPEAK WITHOUT APPROVAL, MAV AND I TRY TO AT LEAST FILL IN THOSE GAPS WITH OUR IDEAS OF WHAT "MIGHT" BE GOING ON. AND SO FAR WE BEEN RIGHT."

LOL!....try and get away with passing off those opinions as facts OUTSIDE of Robotech.com and Robotechx.com...now that would be more "entertaining" than The Shadow Chronicles.
And just in case, why would I bother to post on Robotech.com my random thoughts for them only to be shot down? That's one thing Fric and Frac do know about, not being able to handle someone else's opinion...
By the way, have you guys made Pizza the Hutt a moderator yet?
And thanks for stopping by Harmony Gold! I should be flattered that you guys choose to notice little ol' me...

THE ROBOTECH READING - Another excerpt from one of the Jack McKinney novels read by yours truly. It's not direct from the Original 85, but it is important to the overall scope of the Robotech story.
THE ROBOTECH COMICS CORNER - Brand new segment. With over 30 titles covering different stories in Robotech it can be definitely said that this segment will be recurring. On our first one, we look at a Pre- Original 85 story GENESIS: THE LEGEND OF ZOR. Zor to me is the most tragic figure in the story of Robotech and in this particular work, it shows how things led up to Episode #1 of the series.
THE ROBOTECH WORD OF THE SHOW - There is a saying, "Ask and you shall receive...", this couldn't be more true for this week's edition. Believe it or not, this is the toughest segment to come up with ideas for. This week though......DAMN!....someone through me a softball! Of course no surprise on WHO provided the inspiration if you have followed the trend of this segment. LOL!
IN THE ROBOTECH SPOTLIGHT - Last week it was Emil Lang. this week, we take a look at the character who is considered his opposite.
A few "aftershow" thoughts...
Everyone is going to have an opinion, kinda like I do....LOL!.... what I say here on the show is subjected to praise, criticism and the rest...it's part of the journey...but the things some people say in this franchise...feeding it to fans as "opinions" but with that wolf in sheep's clothing message "You better believe it as fact OR ELSE!"...amazing how it makes those people feel "significant"....
I just feel a RandomCast coming pretty soon...LMAO!
The Protoculture Times is a constant evolutionary process. I have some ideas in mind for 2010...especially with the 25th anniversary coming up! A few other non Robotech segments I may want to add...
I get a complaint nowadays that I should embrace the show's "success" more willingly. As I have said before, I'm not in it for the numbers nor do I produce this show to compete. To do it for any type of "glory" or "recognition", it would take away ALL the fun from it. I'm just a guy that does a Robotech podcast and has a blast and the product speaks for itself. But, I will always be grateful EVERY SINGLE DAY for the response this show has received and the people I have connected with. When it is all said and done, I think people will say; "The kid did a helluva job and he had a damn good time doing it!"
So there is my "embrace" to success...
Smokey, The Little Guy, the executive producer of the podcast says hello to everyone!
In non-Robotech related thoughts, one of my local radio stations has started with the 24/7 XMAS music.......AWESOME BABY!!!! Yes I am all for the holidays! For me it's Thanksgiving and Christmas. I know that there are many who celebrate different festivities in this season, but regardless of who celebrates what, it's just something about this particular time of year...something so different...bump into strangers and smile...people on the go but enjoying themselves....time for union...sometimes REunion....but beyond that, just something in the air that brings out the better nature in the world's citizens...even the host of this show!
And of course...for me at least....there's the SNOW........WOOOHOOOO!

EPISODE #7 - MASTERS STORY TIME PT.1 /VERY FIRST PCT INTERVIEW!

I have been battling a cold all week and this one has really been knocking me down (Thank you honey, Love you!...lol). It's to the point where to sneeze or cough actually results in a sharp pain in my torso. Throat is shot (guess projecting my radio dj voice doesn't help...lmao!) Just not a good thing!
But not enough to keep me away from another episode of The Protoculture Times! (But it was getting doubtful towards the end!

**PLEASE NOTE; This being my very first interview, the audio sounds like a phone call (SKYPE) but it is audible. Also there are occasional moments where the audio drops for a second or too, but nothing significant is missed.

Random Thoughts 11/04/09
Another round of musings from "that guy that does a Robotech podcast"...
First, on the "not so nice" side of things, The Protoculture Times received it's first death threat on this blog...the comment has been deleted (JT flexes moderator muscles)...it was signed by Anonymous, OF COURSE! Basically said in a graphic and profanity laced tirade of how they hate me and my show, exalted the qualities of other shows and that if I am ever in their presence, I would meet my ultimate demise through horrible means. While unnerving as this may be...by signing it as Anonymous, that's all that this party has for courage.Classic case of ITG.....click here for more info.
Ehhh...what can you do?
Now that we've thrown the trash to the can...let's move on!
It was great to get back behind the mic for a new episode...had those "first time" jitters again...but it just adds to the excitement I feel!
The RandomCast...I loved it and so did a lot of other people!...will it change things?...I really don't think so...but it's out in the open, you can decide how to digest it...
For my podcast I don't worry about about the "numbers" game at all...the fact that anyone is listening is to me a great feeling and an honor...I do The Protoculture Times bcause I have fun with it...what other reason is there?
Ghosts are lurking at Robotechx.com....though it's nothing to be remotely be scared about...(again...see the link above for ITG...lol!)
Christmas season coming up soon...caroling!...24 hour Xmas music!...snow!...shopping!.....(as you can tell, I get excited about this time of year!)
Free advice...when someone demands that you pet their "rooster"...get creeped out and RUN AWAY!!!!!
Been thinking about what direction The Protoculture Times will take for 2010....any thoughts?
Busy year for scifi...San Diego Comicon...Star Trek convention Vegas...Star Wars Fan Days in Texas. Any Robotech fans out there with convention memories? Good or bad, chime in!
Episode 7 will have a Protoculture Times FIRST, looking forward to that...
I've learned a lot in the past few weeks, not just about Robotech, but about life....it's a never ending process and I thank all those who have been a part of it. It's not been the easiest of roads I've taken when I decided to do a Robotech podcast. In this journey, I have better understood why so many decent and loyal Robotech fans over the years have become disgusted and flipped off the fandom of which they were part of. I still have fun with it and to the "disenchanted", you are always welcome! That simple, simple as that!
A very dear friend, not a Robotech fan, sent me the following quote for any moments of doubt(which have been many) and it's helped...
"Go for it! " - Rocky Balboa
