Another round of musings from "that guy that does a Robotech podcast"...
First, on the "not so nice" side of things, The Protoculture Times received it's first death threat on this blog...the comment has been deleted (JT flexes moderator muscles)...it was signed by Anonymous, OF COURSE! Basically said in a graphic and profanity laced tirade of how they hate me and my show, exalted the qualities of other shows and that if I am ever in their presence, I would meet my ultimate demise through horrible means. While unnerving as this may be...by signing it as Anonymous, that's all that this party has for courage.Classic case of ITG.....click here for more info.
Ehhh...what can you do?
Now that we've thrown the trash to the can...let's move on!
It was great to get back behind the mic for a new episode...had those "first time" jitters again...but it just adds to the excitement I feel!
The RandomCast...I loved it and so did a lot of other people!...will it change things?...I really don't think so...but it's out in the open, you can decide how to digest it...
For my podcast I don't worry about about the "numbers" game at all...the fact that anyone is listening is to me a great feeling and an honor...I do The Protoculture Times bcause I have fun with it...what other reason is there?
Ghosts are lurking at Robotechx.com....though it's nothing to be remotely be scared about...(again...see the link above for ITG...lol!)
Christmas season coming up soon...caroling!...24 hour Xmas music!...snow!...shopping!.....(as you can tell, I get excited about this time of year!)
Free advice...when someone demands that you pet their "rooster"...get creeped out and RUN AWAY!!!!!
Been thinking about what direction The Protoculture Times will take for 2010....any thoughts?
Busy year for scifi...San Diego Comicon...Star Trek convention Vegas...Star Wars Fan Days in Texas. Any Robotech fans out there with convention memories? Good or bad, chime in!
Episode 7 will have a Protoculture Times FIRST, looking forward to that...
I've learned a lot in the past few weeks, not just about Robotech, but about life....it's a never ending process and I thank all those who have been a part of it. It's not been the easiest of roads I've taken when I decided to do a Robotech podcast. In this journey, I have better understood why so many decent and loyal Robotech fans over the years have become disgusted and flipped off the fandom of which they were part of. I still have fun with it and to the "disenchanted", you are always welcome! That simple, simple as that!
A very dear friend, not a Robotech fan, sent me the following quote for any moments of doubt(which have been many) and it's helped...
"Go for it! " - Rocky Balboa
Yo Adrian!..... REVIVE FOR 25!
Seeya in episode 7 between this Friday and Saturday!

JT,
it's a shame that you were threatened by a lowlife such as the one you mentioned. I, on the otherhand, think you're doing a fantastic job on the podcast. Keep on going and go for it! :)
Btw, out of curiosity, in your podcasts (in particular the shoutouts section) you mentioned that your podcast gets downloaded by people from various countries. How many from each respective country downloads your podcast? Can you please share with us some statistics like for example how many from Australia, Fillipines, UK, Canada, Mexico downloaded your podcast of Episode 1, etc?
Also, are we able to access previous polls that were conducted in the past?
Anyways, JT you're doing a great job on the podcast and I look forward to your next episode.

Cheetosdust,
First, thank you for the words of encouragement. it's been quite a ride and I am having the time of my life!
To your question about sepcific numbers, it is something I don't look into. My podcasting host service gives me a total number, but only gives me details on the last 20 or so episode hits, downloads and plays and those change with each day. If I were to surmise, I would say a few people from each country, not anything on a OMG grand scale. My service can give me more stats if I "upgraded" to a business account. Ahhh...I won't be doing that. I'm just a simple podcaster..LOL!
Once again, the "numbers" factor is not important to me. The fact that people in the States and other countries are listening is the exciting part for me! It's an honor, even if it were just one person. And THANK YOU for listening.
I've only had two polls but you bring up an interesting point. I don't know if you can archive polls on Blogger. I'll look into that definitely for the future. Thanks for the idea!
As to the threat I received, while I do have my detractors, I'll admit this was unexpected and unnerving. Science fiction is meant to be enjoyed, but there are those who need, albeit anonymously, to turn it into some holy crusade and make threats over the internet. . All I can do is shrug and move on...and TRY not to let it bother me. It's tough sometimes, because I am human too.
Cheetosdust, thank you for your listenership and chime in again!
JT
People who threaten you online are just moronic by nature. In reality they wouldn't act so tough, but for some reason hiding behind a computer or laptop screen makes them feel invincible *facepalm*
Who ever threatened you is an idiot and they know it. And if they ever dare to show themselves again, I will give them a piece of my mind ;)
ignore the morons and continue with your show, you're doing great =]
One of the oldest and wisest piece of advise ever to float down the pipeline of the ages is this: "The best revenge is a good life."
Translation: Keep doing what you're doing, which is excellent, and let the fools expose themselves for who and what they are. It's laughable, really, to think that they can take themselves seriously, let alone expect you or anyone else to.
Keep it up, Zen! You're doing great!
