I heard that Digiorno's and Mama Celeste want to take Pizza Hut's place as a sponsor of Robotech.I'll keep you updated....hee hee!

Robotech Fandom 2.0....hmmm? That has a nice ring to it!

Nice little debate going on in the blog about whether Harmony Gold owes anything to the fandom. I LOVE IT! The fan's speaking their minds! For me, I think the fandom owes itself to voice it's opinion, whether that's for or against H.G. They shouldn't be a factor in how we enjoy it though. Get it out of your system though. Praise and criticism are a part of life. Believe me, i get enough of both since doing this! LOL! It is a frustrating situation with them, but if they don't want to celebrate Robotech, what can you do? In the mean time, I'm gonna enjoy the journey towards the 25th anniversary. Quoting many great historical figures....TO HELL WITH THEM!

SUPPORT THE FAN PRODUCTIONS! And if you have one you want to plug...I do commercials for fan fics, art and websites for FREE!

Now here's where I kinda let loose everyone.....

Regarding MAVERIC LSC and his "tantrum" about Robotech fans having  OCD....

To use Obsessive–compulsive disorder, a disease that affects 1 in 50 adults in the United States alone as a platform to bash Robotech fans that don't see things your way or who you feel don't have a  "significant" life like yours is irresponsible but above all else IGNORANT. What do you do for an encore? Trip blind people? Heckle people in wheelchairs? MAVERIC LSC,  you have now become the poster boy for the ignorance that occurs in the Robotech fandom. And you try to sell yourself as a "regular guy"?........YAH....RIGGGGGHHHHHT......

And remember, this is just one fan's opinion.....

And MEMO1DOMINION, lets take your "criticisms" point by point shall we?


"TO MUCH TIME SPENT WITH THE SHOUT OUT'S. DONT KNOW HOW MANNY MINUTES INTO THE PODCAST WITH THAT BUT I THINK MY MIND WENT ANOTHER WAY FROM LISTENING. AND WHEN I RETURNED BACK TO YOUR SHOW, YOU WERE STILL GIVING SHOUT OUT'S."

The "shout outs" will continue to be a part of the show...because I like them...the easiest solution is to forward the recording as it is an MP3 file....you go on to say;

"FLOOR IT TO THE DISCUSSION MAN. BECAUSE ONCE I GOT THERE I WAS VERY SLEEPY. AND LIKE SIGH, I DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME EITHER."

The beauty of an MP3 file is that you can listen to it at ANY point of the day, month or year...so that takes care of that too....

And just remember Memo, this show was NOT made for just you in mind....then you say;

"NOW, ONCE YOU GOT TO YOUR OPINION, I CAN REALLY SEE WHAT THE SHOW IS ABOUT.."YOUR OPINION". WHAT COULD I SAY? I HEARD IT AND GAVE YOU THE TIME BUT THINGS LIKE THAT MAKE ME TURN OFF. HOPE THINGS CHANGE A BIT AND GET INTO EVERYONE'S OPINION AND LISTENING TO EVERYONE.

BUT IF HP IS RIGHT ABOUT WHAT YOUR SHOW IS, IT BECOMES AS "YOUR OPINION SHOW" AND WELL.. I WOULD MOVE ON. "

Ahhh...now we come to the heart of the matter....YES I am opinionated....I wouldn't deny that for anything in the world...but how come you forget the mention the various moments in the show where I state the following;

"It's one fan's opinion..."
"not meant to be the Robotech gospel (which does not exist)

"celebrating the diversity of opinion....even if it's opinions that disagree with me"
"chime in with your thoughts...if I forgot something...agree, disagree...or down the middle at protoculturetimes@gmail.com"

Why is that Memo? Those statements you are careful to omit directly contradict your argument about the show being about "just my opinion".

Did you not listen?...Did you fall asleep?....Or is it another attempt by you to just further your agenda on your "holy vision" of what the Robotech fandom should be in your eyes''?..Bowing our heads and saying..."That's Great Harmony gold!...Oh that's super....that's sensational!"

You and Maverick as Robotech.com Forum Moderators?,...makes all the sense in the world now...LOL!

And finally you say;

"WILL CHECK OUT EPISODE 2. TO SEE WHAT CHANGED. BUT IF I STOPPED POSTING HERE IS BECAUSE I MOVED ON."

I'd rather you not actually ...I'd prefer you just take your tuna fish hat and "move on"..... my show is about celebrating the diversity opinion in the Robotech fandom ...not to conform to your "holy vison"...and I know you like to think you have some "stroke" in the Robotech world but I would really really be surprised if the people at H.G.even shared your vision....then again..these are the same people that gave the fans the Shadow Chronicles. (oh you guys knew I had to mention that!...LOL!)

I understand criticism of the podcast...believe me...I get tons...but when you paint a picture of the show when there are elements in it that negate your arguments...I'll take issue with it...that simple...simple as that!

And remember, this is just one fan's opinion..... 

In the end though, it's about having fun and enjoying DA' ROBOTECH!

    It's good to see you taking a stand, and letting those know that you don't care what they think.
    I like that attitude, it shows you've got a lot of confidence.....or maybe you've just spent too much time around me heh, nah I'm kidding.

    Like you said, it is your show, therefore you can do whatever you want on it, talk about whatever, give shout outs, do little commercials, and those who don't like it have the option of not listening at all.

    I have to say though, I was more appalled about memos remarks. I feel that he wasn't even giving you a chance, and instead just being an ass about it. *sigh*
    but like I said, its good you arent going to let their remarks ruin your fun, so just keep up the good work and do it for the fun of it.

    As far as the MEMO issue is concerned, I was appalled that the entire idea of the show WASN'T to pander to MEMO's needs, wishes, desires, and whatnot... You mean this podcast ISN'T all about MEMO!?!?

    Gosh...

    (Just kidding, folks!)

    In all seriousness, an excellent job, man.

    The 'Word of the Show' segment was GREAT!!! Nice use of sound-effect editing there, man.

    Also, Atlantech has exposure, now!! Nice!

  5. Thanks Lynn. I don't follow the Robtech world that closely. Just a passive fan from the 80's. I saw a youtube AMV and felt a little nostalgic. It sounds like there is a lot of conflict within the Robotech world. I love Robotech also. But in the end it is a scifi anime. Meant to entertain. But I guess that's just me. If the two mentioned above represent robotech.com, then I'm not so certain I want to be associated with that part of Robotech.

  6. Yeah the conflict in the fandom is the main problem, and reason why fans are divided. People like MEMO and Mav believe that anyone who doesn't like the direction HG is going with robotech, aren't real fans. They believe that if you're a robotech fan, YOU have to be a fan of the shadow chronicles too. And if you're not, you're a hater, or a macross purist.

    The whole thing is just pathetic, especially when such people try to enforce censorship. You can't say anything negative about HG and TSC or else, you're a nazi and MEMO will tell you so. Also it doesn't matter if its something said on another site, he will still notify the staff and tell them what you've been saying.

    After all that's happened, like you I really don't want any part of the fandom, but I realized that it would be better to stand up to these people and support others who hate the censorship too. Which is why I run my own personal robotech community site, which caters to fanworks and discussion regarding the robotech universe without censorship. There's even a section for criticizing HG, and that section alone has earned my community the bastard of the year award.

  7. HMMM. Yes, I picked up a copy of the Shadow Chronicles. I made a review on Amazon. Not a very good review. I feel a little cheated. They didn't even have the courtesy to kill off the old characters so fans like me can move on. Don't get me wrong if a new story line comes out and I like it, I'll watch it. But I see no evidence of this.

    They left the ending to Shadow Chronicles on a cliff hanger and teased us with the possibility of our old characters. I don't think I'm falling for it next time. I won't be buying the next release. It just feels like a cheap marketing ploy.

    And SERIOUSLY, why should fans like me care about what a couple of forum moderators and staff at HG say. I think somebody thinks a bit highly of themselves. I'm referring to them and not you.

    I'm laughing as I type this. I doubt the higher level execs would really appreciate the name of their company being dragged through the mud. It just sounds like overzealous low level staffers and a couple of fans taking it upon themselves to represent the company without their knowledge. I work in the business world. Appearance is everything. It's best to appear above the fray. Unless a product stinks that bad and you need to do damage control. Which one is it?

  8. Hi guys! Thought I would chime in myself!

    When it regards to the subject of MEMO1DOMINION, what I take issue with is his trying to distort what i am doing with The Protoculture Times. His apparent sense of entitlement within the Robotech community gives him some sort of licensing to twist here and omit there on the "miscreants" that don't follow his way. To me I feel he creates this little world thinking it wins him favor with H.G. To their credit, i honestly don't belive H.G. that delusional in their thinking.

    And honestly I truly believe Memo feels that the Robotech fandom OWES him for "all the stuff" he does. To those who do not wish to pay tribute to him, he dances around them condescendingly in the hopes to bait them by having them go off on him and then he lifts the victim flag crying; "See they're the bad people!"

    The old BTD game...Bait, Then Discredit...

    And even more recently, Memo claims that I asked his consultation of what to put or not put on my show. Distortion is not enough, he now needs to INVENT things....it's something that does bother me immensely and eventually I will address it...

    MEMO's view of the Robotech fandom is that they are sheep needing to be guided by the shepherd...him.

    I see them as fellow Robotech fan's who can think for themselves and can form their own conclusions...because it IS about the diversity of opinion.

    Anonymous...thank you for chiming in and i'm glad you enjoy the show...just a Robotech fan here doing his thing!
